Our approach

1. Community engagement

We utilize the avenues of community engagement to support leadership development while strengthening communities; we advance community-engagement through working with the Community Own Resource Persons (CORPs).

2. Institutions

We collaborate and networks with other institutions namely National Government, County Governments and other like minded partners.

3. Advocacy

At Neighbours in Action-Kenya, we believe in the power of advocacy to drive positive change and advance the rights and interests of marginalized and vulnerable populations. Our Advocacy Activity is dedicated to raising awareness, mobilizing support, and influencing decision-makers to address pressing social, economic, and environmental issues affecting our community. We compliment our programmatic work with advocacy efforts that multiply our impact.

Current Programs

1. HEALTH

At Neighbours in Action-Kenya, we believe that good health is the foundation of a thriving and prosperous society. Our programs are designed to address the diverse health needs of individuals and families, with a focus on preventive care, access to quality healthcare services, and health promotion initiatives. Through collaborative efforts and community engagement, we aspire to create a culture of health and wellness that empowers individuals to lead healthy, fulfilling lives

a. Focus area

    i) HIV

    We seek to contribute to the attainment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through universal access to comprehensive HIV prevention, treatment and care for all. NIAK provides comprehensive HIV combination prevention interventions to key and vulnerable populations. Our population include; Vulnerable population Key Populations (FSW, PWID).The HIV-positive persons are linked to care and initiated on treatment to attain viral suppression and reduce transmission of HIV.

    ii) Tuberculosis

    We seek to Contribute to the attainment of universal health coverage through comprehensive TB/HIV prevention, treatment and care for all people.

    iii) Cervical Cancer

    Conducting community outreach programs to educate women and communities about cervical cancer, its risk factors, and the importance of screening. Providing information about the human papillomavirus the primary cause of cervical cancer, and the role of vaccination in prevention and establishing pathways for prompt referral and follow-up of women with abnormal screening results for further evaluation and treatment.

2. LIVELIHOOD

At Neighbours in Action-Kenya, we recognize the importance of sustainable livelihoods in fostering economic empowerment and improving the well-being of individuals and communities. Our Livelihood Development Program is designed to support individuals in achieving self-reliance, building resilience, and creating pathways out of poverty.

3. HUMAN RIGHTS, GENDER AND GOVERNANCE

At Neighbours in Action-Kenya we are committed to promoting gender equality and upholding human rights for all individuals, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, or socio-economic status. Our Gender and Human Rights Activity is dedicated to advancing gender justice, empowering marginalized communities, and promoting respect for human dignity and equality.

4. ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE

We conduct awareness Campaigns, tree planting and reforestation, climate-smart agriculture and climate resilience building. In order to address climate change NIAK endeavour the need for widespread adoption of new and possibly disruptive technologies and practices and enhanced climate-driven innovation.
